Kimo Bear Sponsor Program
North Bay Basketball Academy has partnered with Kimo Bear Project, a non-profit agency that provides children with cancer their own Kimo Bear.
A Kimo Bear serves as a therapeutic play aid for children during chemotherapy treatments.
You can learn more at www.kimobearproject.com.
This partnership was created for three reasons:
- Community Service: The partnership creates a community service opportunity for NBBA athletes (high school grades) during the Spring Travel Season to deliver the bears to children going through chemotherapy. We are hoping to partner with the Marin Food Bank for our younger grades.
- Scholarship Fund (Donations or Sponsorship): Through this partnership Kimo Bear will meet one of their mission statements by assisting NBBA athletes that have a financial need. A portion of every donation will go to Kimo Bear Project to build the teddy bears and to the NBBA Scholarship Fund. This includes the ability to sponsor a player in the Club program.
- Select Travel Teams (Sponsorship): All sponsorship program funds will be shared by Kimo Bear Project as well as the NBBA. However, the sponsor has the option to direct the NBBA portion of the funds toward the Select Travel Teams or the Scholarship Fund.
As the NBBA seeks to provide more exposure for our athletes by attending high profile tournaments across the west coast and nationally, the costs increase dramatically, which creates a potential financial burden for our NBBA families. The goal is to attract sponsors in an effort to offset the costs for travel and lodging for these players, giving them the opportunity to be seen by high-level college basketball programs and to play against high level competition.
